Lidl in Dialogue: Nourishing our Neighbourhoods

The latest addition to Lidl’s In Dialogue series brought together leaders from local government, education, charities and the food sector. Together, they explored barriers to education, employment, and access to affordable, nutritious food. The day began with fun Lidl Foodies workshops with two local schools, introducing their pupils to healthy eating and sustainability through the Planetary Health Plate. A panel discussion and networking session followed, exploring the experiences of deprivation across communities and the support needed to help people thrive.

OnSide Community Activation

Lidl Foodies stepped beyond the classroom this summer with a series of activations across five OnSide Youth Zones in the UK. These gave young people a hands-on, working kitchen experience designed to build the skills and confidence to make sustainable food choices. Developed in partnership with OnSide, the sessions brought the programme into safe, inspiring community spaces where young people from all backgrounds could learn, grow and thrive.

Lidl Foodies Farm Visits

Lidl Foodies took learning beyond the classroom, giving pupils from four schools the chance to visit the farms that supply Lidl's berries. They enjoyed tractor tours, fruit tasting and berry picking, and went behind the scenes at a packaging facility, meeting farmers and discovering how food gets from farm to fork. One teacher said they were "absolutely blown away" by the opportunity to take their pupils to see the farms in action and learn what goes on behind the scenes.

Open Farm Sunday

Lidl Foodies came to life as a hands-on village fete at one of Lidl GB's key berry suppliers in Surrey, welcoming 4,000 visitors across a weekend of family activity. Three stations – blind tasting, a seasonal produce challenge and a smoothie bike – brought the programme's Tasting, Growing and Making themes to a whole new audience.
